Speaking about how social commerce has brought a new spike in market, Rajiv Kumar Aggarwal, Founder and CEO, StoreHippo, said, “Social commerce has brought a new spike in market growth as it is expected to grow three times as fast as traditional e-commerce. The pandemic has been tough on businesses of every scale and size. We were expecting tax benefits and compliance relaxation for new and emerging businesses which has been taken care of in the budget. By extending the tax benefits for startups incorporated until March 2023, the Government has shown its inclination to foster the startup culture booming in India. This will have multi-pronged benefits and help the startups drive the growth of the Indian economy.
Rajiv Kumar Aggarwal, Founder & CEO, StoreHippo (E-commerce)
The pandemic proved beyond doubt that digital commerce would lead the way to growth, job opportunities and booming startup culture in India. With more and more SMEs as well as reputed brands taking the ecommerce route to survive amidst the ravages of the pandemic, we expect the Government to make it easier for businesses to go online. The government should further relax the regulatory compliances and paperwork needed to start an online store or online marketplace. The government should also increase the threshold for qualifying as an SME. This would help startups and small firms channelise their revenue for further growth which would eventually help the economy. Also, the new ecommerce verticals like Agritech, Edutech, Healthtech, Fintech etc. should get government support and push as these have the potential to change the Indian economy for the better.
Kriti Aggarwal, Co-Founder & CPO, StoreHippo said, "Work-life balance is a tightrope walk for most of us. The change in workforce dynamics and increasing competition among companies are threatening the security of a job for employees. Our ultimate goal is to create a flexible and motivating work environment - where employees feel trusted and valued. However, the yellow alert presently has got employees worried and in a critical mental state, so they must be provided with a flexible as well as virtual working environment along with an active learning experience for a better quality of work and results."
“Innovation is a key driver of India's corporate and economic growth, as proven by the pandemic crisis. As a result, we anticipate that the government would prioritise helping companies in dealing with the challenges and consequences of the pandemic. We expect regulations that make it easier for businesses to go online and run their online stores and marketplaces since offline businesses have been severely impacted and every business owner is planning to go online. Not all firms have the resources to fulfil the time-consuming compliance requirements, such as GST, or to deal with the paperwork required to launch an online endeavour.
Social media bullying, which includes sexist comments and abusive language, affects women adversely, to the extent that they find it hard to concentrate on work, hampering their performance at workplaces. It is also challenging for companies to protect women employees from cyberbullying, but several people-first organisations are taking the initiatives.
